You may be making an effort to eat healthier and eating to lose weight, but are running
out of ideas on just WHAT to eat! Believe it or not there are so many delicious foods you can eat that are healthy.
When shopping, select foods that are along the perimeter of the store. Most of the “clean” or fresh foods are located along the outside. The packaged foods with added preservatives, fats and sugars are lurking in the aisles. Think about it, you walk into the store, make a turn and there you are among the colorful rows of produce. Here are some things to grab:
Lettuce (dark colored)
Moving along you come to the meat department which includes all kinds of lean beef, chicken and fresh fish.
Skinless white poultry meat
Next is Dairy where you’ll find:
Yogurt, nonfat, no sugar
Cottage cheese, low fat or no fat
Bakery – this is one area where taking a few steps into the aisle will give you a variety of grains
Whole grain bread, 100%
Sprouted grain breads such as Ezekiel Bread
Rye Crisp crackers
Steel Cut oatmeal or oat groats
And fairly close by you can get dried beans and Lentils
Now Enjoy!! After a few weeks of non processed foods you will feel so much better. Start by committing to trying one new food a week. Let me know if you need ideas.
